ACD Review Article
When this State-of-the-Art Review first appeared in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, there were approximately 100 confirmed cases of Alveolar Capillary Dysplasia with Misalignment of the Capillary Veins, a universally lethal congenital lung disease. The diagnosis was often missed until autopsy and newborns were subjected to aggressive therapies that ultimately proved futile. This manuscript served for many years as a comprehensive resource for physicians, scientists, and parents seeking information on diagnosis, natural history and treatment.
"It is through the accomplishment of the above goals that ACD/MPV may transform from a uniformly lethal disorder into one
that is treatable and/or preventable."
"This study provides additional support for recent observations regarding the impact of gestation shorter than 39 completed weeks (early-term birth) on outcomes after surgery for congenital heart disease in infants up to the age of 12 months."

Cardiology Outcomes Research
This manuscript summarized the results of a clinical research pilot study aimed at understanding the role of gestational age in outcomes of infants following surgery for congenital heart disease. The project was inspired by concerns over a dramatic increase in early elective caesarean section deliveries of babies with critical heart disease in the absence of any urgent medical indication.

Neurology Primer
This review was written in response to a growing awareness among pediatric subspecialists of a wide variation in outcomes among children with traumatic brain injury, due in large part to the adaptation of existing prognostic and treatment guidelines for adults. Initially intended as a comprehensive resource for general pediatricians, the paper also served as a call to action for pediatric-focused research.
"Large-scale, well-conducted research exploring the mechanisms and management of TBI in children is desperately needed."
"This chapter offers an overview of the clinical pharmacology of the five catecholamines, two noncatecholamine agents, and the venerable cardiacglycosides most commonly used to support critically ill children."

Textbook Chapter
This chapter covers the pharmacology of the cardiovascular medications most commonly used in critically ill children. It is included in both the 5th and 6th editions of Fuhrman and Zimmerman's Pediatric Critical Care, which is ranked among the top two definitive references for pediatric intensive care practitioners.

Design Journal Article
This manuscript evolved from a Cornell University graduate student's PhD thesis. She participated in a multi-institutional project between Cornell University, the Hunter College School of Nursing, and the Weill Cornell PICU in which I asked the students to develop evidence-based interventions to decrease central line infections in the PICU. During the drafting of the manuscript, my mentee's visa expired, and she returned to China. The transglobal collaboration provided me with an inside look at life in China during the pandemic, and a lifelong friendship I will always treasure.
"The pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) is an environment where seriously ill children receive complex care, delivered mostly by specialty-trained nurses (RNs) who must perform multiple high-level tasks."
"I was a mom, an intensive care doctor, and a fitness fanatic....
I took for granted that the gifts from Mother Nature and my ancestors would usher me painlessly into old age."

Foundation Journal Article
It was challenging and gut-wrenching to say yes when the foundation that I relied on for support approached me to publish my perspective from the other side of the exam table. Was I ready to announce that I was not the wonderwoman I portrayed myself to be? How would my disclosure affect my career aspirations? In the end, my biggest lesson was learning the healing power of writing.
